Buzz Sound Off! LaNyxxie

In this segment, you will be given a weekly topic to debate about. You will have the chance to post your opinions, comments, criticism and ideas on the Game Forum, when the proper official topic is made. The topic is made at the beginning of the week to ensure that many players get to eventually voice their opinion!

THIS WEEK’S DEBATE!
What, in your opinion, makes a good HDO/Moderator? What would you like to see the HDO/Moderators do more of and do less of (excluding their obvious jobs of muting, banning, locking topics, ect).

"What makes a good mod/hdo is what approach they take to communicate with players, a good mod/hdo will communicate with players in the forum and will take part and discuss any happenings in the game, rather than just muting/banning and act as if he/she is superior. This whole attitude make players think of mods as something other than people who are here to help make the game better."

"The whole game needs alot less censorship. And it needs HDO's and moderators that enhance the gaming experience, not take away from it. In my opinion, HDO's especially are the tie between STAFF and players. they should be able to see the players side. More often times than not you have people who can't SEE that side, because they are blinded by their own ego. Mods, truthfully should be doing more to make the interaction better. more often than not, they are uselessly banning for stupid stuff that HDO's can take care of, posting in the game forum etc. Basically for me it boils down to staff making the game BETTER for the player in all aspects. Do more to help the new player when they start. give advice, help where needed. HDO's GIVE advice that will make the game better, not just whining about what your job entails, (EG the game forum). Its not about what makes 4-5 players job (that they applied for) better. it boils down to you should help make the regular players experience more gratifying. I just don't see this group doing that. I have a suggestion. 1 admin a day unblocks their inbox to hear complaints. There's nothing wrong with having a sheriff around to moderate moderators. everyone has a job, but sometimes us "pee-ons" would like to talk to the big cheese too. At least then we'd feel like we were being heard by someone who can fix something."

"In the case of a HDO, they should always be ready to help a person with a legitimate question, be it through the helpdesk or through BM. It used to be the case (not anymore) where some HDOs wouldn't accept questions through bootmail, and only took HD tickets so in the case if a new player messaging for help, they got ignored. Activity is a must as well, lack of activity means that you're not available to help, which is what a HDO should do. Some HDOs shouldn't be yellow still as a result.A good Mod or Admin should take into account the concerns of the players and what should be done today is possibly utilise commonsense when making decisions. If you have two people who talk, act and do the same things in therms of profile designs and crew choices, then they should be banned in some cases, regardless of what Family Account rules have been broken. Without commonsense playing a part in moderation of the game, the rules are open to abuse, and some crews have already been accused of abusing the rules for their own ends."

"In my own personal opinion i believe that HDOs in particular have both pros and cons (which most topics do). For one thing, they control the forums and prevent spamming which most likely stands for Stupid Pointless Anoying Messages. Also they guide the player to help them out when they are a beginner. Although they have too much control over the forums and there needs to be less censorship. Some have too much power and abuse it for their own good."

"I think they should disband hdo's. Promote 2 or 3 of the better hdo's to become mods and bring this forum....cause thats what the game is...back inline with being a more traditional forum where forum moderators are the ones who enforce rules. Not hirelings who interpret the rules in slightly different ways."
~ Magsalicious

"I think the staff should be evaluated more often. For example, there are some Mods such as VDD that actually do a good job and others that get online once a day to bank their billions and send cash to their friends."
~ Mermy

"Honestly, this is whats wrong with the staff at the moment. You always need to get the last word in. This thread had potential to be very successful. However, it was created by a HDO and staff are shooting down everything everyone has said thus far and keep insisting they are doing their best. Ruining the chance of a fair and accurate Buzz article. Now, like in most of the game forum at the moment, players are too scared to post anything. We can't speak out at all, for fear of being muted or banned. There are some serious problems with this game at the moment, I'm not saying that staff is the soul reason behind this, but it is certainly a factor."
