Bootleggers Tutorial: Using Skype to call-in to the Bootleggers Bootcast

In this tutorial, you will learn how to phone into the Bootleggers Bootcast using Skype, without leaving your computer. The process is fairly simple, and will be explained to you in a few simple steps, which are shown below.

What is Skype?

Skype is software that allows a user to make telephone calls over the Internet, instead of using a Mobile Phone/Cell Phone or a regular Landline phone. The software is free to download and can be found on their website, located at http://www.skype.com. Please note that in order to use Skype and contact the Bootcast, you will need a compatible microphone.

Contacting the Bootcast

Step 1: The first thing you need to do is access the Bootcast page by clicking the Bootcast link on the left side of the page.

From here you will be able to get hold of the number you need to dial in order to connect to the Bootcast.

Step 2: The number you need to dial in order to reach the Bootcast is found towards the bottom of the Bootcast information panel. The number you need to dial is the American number, regardless of your own geographical location. This is the only number out of the three that can currently be dialled using Skype.

Step 3: When on Skype, the following three actions will get you connected to the Bootcast.

1. Open the ‘Cell Phones’ tab.
2. Either copy the number from the Bootcast page, or type in the American Bootcast number.
3. Press ‘Call’ and wait for the call to connect. When you have connected, congratulations! You are through to the Bootcast.

And there you are! Simple, wasn’t it? All that is left to do now is record your message and make yourself heard across the Bootleggers community. So go on, phone in, leave your message and take control of the airwaves!

We at the Buzz look forward to hearing from you.
