An Interview With Sylv! MotherFrick

The Buzz continues its interviews with Help Desk Operators by interviewing longtime-HDO, Sylv. She joined the yellow team in February 2008, when the team conisisted of (to name a few), Boby, Nyxxie, Farkie, Kaya and Spacie.

The Buzz started the interview by asking Sylv how she became a Help Desk Operator. She said, "I was online around the time Kaya had been promoted. I had never heard of her before, I consider myself quite active. So I was thinking, "who is that and what the hell." So I went to talk to Sabin, and asked him who this Kaya person was, and what she has done that I didn't to become a Help Desk Operator. He told me he didn't know I was interested in becoming a Help Desk Operator. Then he told me that a Moderator did vouch for me, but he was scared the Bootleggers community would give me a really hard time because of our friendship. But I accepted the offer anyway, because Sylv's a big girl!"

We then asked Sylv why she thought she was promoted. She said, "Well of course because a Moderator vouched for me. But I believe I have quite a big knowledge of Bootleggers. I had been a Buzz writer for a while, and I had learned a lot of things about the game in there. Actually, not just knowledge of the game itself, but I learned how the features of the game worked, which was quit interesting. I was also a BootCast DJ, but that's nothing to do with game knowledge, but I do think I collected a group of friends in that."

The Buzz also asked her what her favourite moment as a Help Desk Operator was. She said, "I went through a really hard time in real life, it's not really about the game, but it showed how much players cared for me, especially some Elite Guard members, and fellow Help Desk Operators. It's one of those times were you learn that the people you don't expect it from, are just far too sweet. They really helped me out of a tough, tough time."

When the Buzz asked Sylv what her daily Bootleggers routine as a Help Desk Operator looks like, she said, "Answering questions mostly. There most questions are actually answered through bootmail. There are not always pending Help Desk tickets and the yellow color on users online attracts players with a quick question, rather than waiting some time through the Help Desk. Although, tickets are usually answered quickly."

We moved on to something Sylv enjoys, Russian Roulettes. The Buzz asked her what attracted her towards them, and how her joining them. She said, "The whole Russian Roulette thing started as a kind of joke. Riserva and Andy really annoyed me before they were about to host a Russian Roulette. They played mind games and tricked me into joining. They would say things like, "You know you want to, I have a feeling you're going to win this time" before the game started." When asked if she won the first game, she said, "Of course I did not win! Now I dont even think it's that funny anymore, but then again I dont care so much about the rank I have. So it's quite a boring story really, but people just say, "hey a Russian Roulette, where's Sylv?!""

The Elite Guard had many things to say about Sylv. Nyxxie said, "I love Sylv. She is one of my best friends here, which is crazy to say considering our past when we actually did not get along. I think she's a very active Help Desk Operator, who takes the time to help people out no matter what. She is fun on the forums and can separate being an HDO to being a player, and that is sometimes a very hard thing to do." Sweetie said, "Sylv is professional when needed. She's a fun, loving player but puts on her professional face when doing her job."

Sylv's fellow Help Desk Operators also commented on her. Mika said, "I think Sylv is a professional HDO who knows how to do her job properly and knows when and how to be professional. In my eyes she is active, she is around frequently and has a professional and helpful attitude towards other players." KamikazeDavid added, "Sylv is very active both on the helpdesk and in the forums especially when there is a Russian Roulette going, as you'll find it hard to beat her to the front of the queue. When it comes to her professionalism she always makes sure the information she gives out to players is as accurate as possible and will go the extra mile if required for clarification."

The Buzz team is happy for you to get to know the other helpers of Bootleggers, the Help Desk Operators. They, like the Elite Guard, work their hardest to keep this game alive, and full of players. Thanks for reading!
