Bootleggers Buzz Sound Off! MadamNyxxie

In this segment, you will be given a weekly topic to debate about. You will have the chance to post your opinions, comments, criticism and ideas on the Game Forum, when the proper official topic is made. The topic is made at a random time during the week to ensure that many players get to eventually voice their opinion!

Next week, 5-10 (depending on how many we get) random opinions will be placed on the Buzz along with a new debate question!

NEXT WEEK'S DEBATE!
What do you think about the Federal Bank's interest income and the Swiss Bank's withdrawal percent charge? Do you think any of those should be changed? Why or why not!

THIS WEEK'S DEBATE!
What is your take on Bootleggers marriages? Should a feature be created to accept this unofficial union? Should married players get benefits? What? Tell us your opinion!

"If they use common sense it is better. It's good that lots of dupes are being caught, but mod's need to use common sense. I know people who logged on a friend's ip one time like 5 months ago and got banned. If you can see that they logged onto that ip one time, it is pretty obvious they are not being used as dupes."

"I personally have mixed emotions on it. On one hand, it is unfair because some people aren't dupes and they just go to friends house once and share IP, or at school and of course they OC'd together or had some kind of interaction so they are labeled dupes. On the other hand, it,s good because it catches all the cheaters and cleans up the game. I didn't think it was too bad untill a person i knew in the game told me she had 15 accounts banned 10 don+ and most of them in crews. I couldn't believe it, I'm glad to have all the cheaters like her out of the game."

"I think it's wonderful! No more noobs asking to be hitlist just so thier dupe can kill themself for the money or doing a crew take over with 2 or 3 different accounts."
~ TehEulogy

"There are a lot of dupers out there who failed their appeals and had propertoes taken away, which I like to see. Anyway, when on the subject of saying whether or not this is a good thing, I think it's probably the best thing to happen to BL for a while, prevents somwething like the duping problem this game had last reset. As long as the Mods are flexible in understanding individual circumstances, which they don't have to be; things are good."

"In my opinion, yes mass bans of course are going to be better for the whole Bootleggers public and are a lesson to dupers and rule-breakers. However I agree that people who have logged on to the same IP for one time half a year ago for example should not be banned, maybe warned for not doing it again, but not banned. There are positives and negatives."

"Bans for the better? Ofcourse. It is understandable the staff did not disclose too much information regarding this new tool (as players could appeal around it), but it appears to search for identical, repeated information in the database towards duplicate players. Furthermore, TOS violators are put in their place and if they know they was wrong, the majority accept their punishment rather than deny it. The outcome effects of this tool being negative is simply due to human error. What I could see was a problem was that the new tool would record more ban problems than the staff could later solve. Simple math will tell us that more players were being banned than the temporary process could handle for a three day appeal period. In my opinion the tool did what it was supposed to do, some of the staff did not. None the less, sacrifices were made for a greater purpose to the game."

"I know lots of friends who are unfairly banned. One of them used to log on BL at an internet cafe, so he and a friend that plays BL at the same place were recorded at the same IP, Later on, my friend got his own ADSL line at home, so being on a different IP and not going to on the cafe's IP, he sent his friend some money, that got him banned! As mentioned here by poopheadd, common sense should be used in such matters. This is only one sorry case that happened to one of my friends. Mot to mentioned that we - Jordanian players - are unfairly banned cause our ISPs don't use static IPs, dynamics IPs are used, which means that the IP address is changed every time you log to the internet, and anyone that knows the basics of dynamic IP and related matters will know that sooner or later you'll get on the same IP once again, and that could happen to another IP!"
