Noobs and how to deal with them. liverpool711

Spotting a Noob doesn't take a Rocket Science degree, just common sense and you reading this article!

The first thing to look for when spotting a noob is to get the difference right between noobs and newbies.

A newbie is a new player. We were all one of them once, so don’t bite their heads off when they ask for help. Look for a few abbreviations, but generally standard English, plus a random Google pic on their profile.

Example:
“hi, could u just let me know how to get in the oc?” or “sorry to bother you but how do I do…..” Generally it is pest to tell them to read the FAQ or get a HDO ticket. It is not very nice to send them abusive BMs back, like “omg u frikin noob get out of my life u have just ruined everything your filtered/hitlisted/dead mate.” How do you think this would make them feel? Not very nice is it.

But I digress. A noob on the other hand can be ANY rank, but they are usually low, like scums, because they usually get banned/hitlisted/killed. Most of them are dupes, which, sadly would make the controlling player a noob, whatever rank their main is. I like to refer to these guys as ‘undercover noobs’. Whilst it is hard to spot the controlling main, apart from if you have the time to maybe compare profile pictures. Oh yes, noobs generally have pretty crazy profiles, which are usually offensive. Not very nice.

However, with the new increase of spotting dupe technology, this reduces the amount of ‘undercover noobs’. This is nice in my opinion. TUPs to the Bootleggers team for that.

Here are some examples of what a noob might do to your mailbox.
(These are real life examples taken from my inbox!)

“If you don’t send me $100,000 within the next hour my mate is going to kill you!”
OK! Analysing this, it was sent to me when I was a scum and FSA. I wouldn’t have 100k. Also, I was in no crew or UG crew, so looking at my profile, it does not look like I have rich friends. Also, being a scum, I would just come back after being killed without losing too much anyway. Oh, another thing about noobs: they are stupid.

“wanna oc?”
oooooh this one annoys me. Just stupid. And chances are they will properly screw you over and take all the money.

“0mg Y0u Is tHe B1gGest N00b 1hAv3 s33N!”
Or something along those lines. Plain stupidity.

How to deal with them. Just filter them. Mailing them back being abusive makes you a bit of a noob as well. Don’t hitlist, this is often what the noob wants so their main can kill them and get all the money. Also creating a thread such as so and so is a noob/scammer is a bit pointless and chances are the noob or other noobs will freely verbally abuse you on the thread until you lock it, and in their eyes, this is a victory.

Oh yes, and another point on forum noobs, don’t post on a thread where you can see noobs on the prowl, your inbox will never be the same again. Also if your thread gets noob infested don’t lock it, because then the noob wins. Just ignore them, they will go away soon enough. Killing noobs is pointless, they will just create another account.

That’s pretty much it on noobs and how to deal with them. Hope you enjoyed!
