Ghosts Of Bootleggers Past Drewdini

Friday morning would prove to be an interesting one for the Bootleggers community. After logging in, I decided to stroll over to the game forum and see if anything was going on. Things appeared to be quiet but one thread caught my eye. A player by the name of SPQR had posted a thread asking for others to screw with the online list. I decided to take a further look into what this player had in mind. Upon opening the thread, SPQR had made a simple request, “everybody log in on your dead and banned accounts and try to flood the online list,” he posted, adding that “the joke is once you’ve logged on you remain shown as online.”

Could this be true? Would the ghosts of BL actually remain on the Users Online page? There was really only one way to figure this one out. 30 seconds later I was logged back in and viewing the Users Online page. Sure enough, in the first line was a friendly, yet familiar name, Deuce. After getting a good laugh I went back to forum browsing, still wondering if what the thread had said was factual. After a couple of minutes, I returned to the Users Online screen. Sure enough, I was still on the top line but now joined by a couple of former Help Desk Operator’s and even a two former Nation Dons.

The fun was only beginning though, as there were now over 400 users online, most of them being ghosts from the past. While it appeared to be some sort of glitch in the game, this seemed to be causing a lot of excitement. Within a matter of about 15-30 minutes, the amount of users online had grown over 450, surpassed 500 and even made it beyond 550. A quick look at the names appearing online brought back a lot of good memories from past crews to takeovers to just everyday conversations. The list continued to grow and 610 names were online, the most this game has seen in a while…

As time wore on, the names eventually began to disappear, leaving players with memories of their accomplishments throughout this round. Another hour or two would pass, before Sabin eventually came online to look into the problem and sort it. For many players this was a fun time, and a chance to see the ghosts of bootleggers past.
