Anonymous Hitlistings NyxxieGoneWild

The hitlist feature has been around for a while. Players use the rather convenient feature to get players they dislike, killed. If the price is right, players can see their enemies with a dead account within five minutes after a hitlisting is made.

Some use the feature's anonymous hitlisting option. This feature enables the hitlister's name to be hidden from the rest of the game. Anonymous hits cost $15,000 times the target rank. The target rank number is figured out on a simple system. You will have to multiple the $15,000 surcharge by one for scums and 15 for Nation Dons. The price is very fair to those who want to use the option of hiding their name.

But why would someone chose to hide their name from the game? Many reasons, of course. Each player has their own reason why they'd hitlist a player anonymously, yet day in and day out, it's the same topic daunting the Game Forum. "Are you scared? Show your name, you COWARD!" stated one player in the Game Forum after being hitlisted for a hefty amount. However, is the reason they choose to hitlist players anonymously because they are scared? Many hitlistees use this excuse, when it is usually far from the truth.

After questioning some players, the Buzz came to the conclusion that fear is not usually ever a factor when using the anonymous hitlisting feature. All in all, three key reasons were why players anonymously hitlist. "I usually have a lot of money on hand, being Notoriously Rich nowadays is a sure way to get killed. So I hitlist anonymously to avoid putting attention on myself," is one reason a player gave to me.

"I am part of a crew. The crew rules is to not hitlist players that are either in a crew or higher than a certain rank. Because of this, I do not want my crew to have a bad name for my hitlist. So I stay within my crew rules and are able to hitlist a person I don't like at the same time," stated another player.

"I like playing underground for as long as I can. Hitlisting anonymously gives me a great opportunity to let me enemies know I am still here and watching them," stated another.

Fear, although a great excuse for those angered over their hitlist, is usually not the case. So maybe those players should rethink the motives of their hitlist-happy enemies before blaming fear as their number one excuse for using a quite popular feature.
