Bootlegging Boogie MikaPika

Not even that long after the introduction of the new Bootlegging page, it appears to experience bugs. Besides the usual problems players have with it like not being able to buy Booze while Javascript is on (problems that are more likely browser- then script related), a real bug surfaced this time. A Game Forum Sticky was created by Help Desk Operator Coda to explain the situation.

Besides thanking everyone for sending in Help Desk tickets, he assured us that the bug had been reported to an Administrator and that the bug would be looked into. Now what does this bug actually do? It appears to disallow you from buying and selling Booze on some occasions which appear to be random. In his Game Forum Sticky, Coda suggested to wait a couple of minutes with buying and selling if you encountered the bug. Wait for the prices to be updated and try again was the general idea.

Upon trying to buy, a player would get the message that the Booze he was trying to buy was sold out. For example you'd see: “* Tequila: Sold Out” when trying to buy Tequila. This prevented you from buying any Booze at all. In the same way, a player could also see a different error when trying to sell Booze. This error would be accompanied by another error showing a certain line in the script responsible for the error. While both errors could pop up again if a player simply tried repeating his actions, the last mentioned error can be helped by the player himself until an Administrator fixes the bug. The way a player can temporarily 'mend' this bug is by buying another unit of Booze in the state where he or she wants to sell. When you've bought another unit (preferably the cheapest around) you can try reselling everything and, if all goes well, it'll work. Logically, you will drop the unit of Booze you bought in the same state but compared to the profit you'll make you won't really mind, will you?

At the time, it is not really known what exactly made the bug appear in the first place. As Coda assured us the bug had been reported to an Administrator, the Buzz contacted Sabin in an attempt to find out more about the how and what from this bug. To our surprise, he said: “I have not been made aware of any bug in Bootlegging.” With Sabin being unaware of the bug and the Buzz being unable to get hold of another administrator, this is all the information we could gather for you. All that's left is hope for the bug to be fixed soon.
