In the Gutter, Lookin' Up. AJSoprano

After a hiatus of roughly 3 years I have stumbled blindly once again into the big bad world of Bootleggers. Previous accounts have ended either at the mercy of others, or in fits of rage, some more astute observers may describe as child-like tantrums, when the thrill seeker in me decides to head for the bright lights of the casino, ultimately walking away with nothing but lint jangling in my pockets.

This time, I say to myself, will be different. I’m older and wiser (19) and shall not be tempted by the demon roulette table and his evil friend keno. Taking my first few tentative steps, filled with eagerness to succeed in a world which has chewed up and spat me out on numerous occasions previously, I begin to forget why I haven’t visited the site in just under a third of a decade. I begin to gain confidence and soon, in what seemed like no time at all, I rise to the dizzy heights of Pee-Wee status.

Soon after this euphoria had died down I find my mouse scrolling uncontrollably to the bottom of the page, I try to fight it but it’s no use, I am caught once again in the grasp of the gambling monster. Fast-forward an hour and I now possess a bank balance which would succeed in making a homeless person blush. I fight the humiliation, almost able to hear the laughter of the dealer as I unfurl my clammy hand and drop $8 onto the table, only to be told I am too poor to play.

The game, much like life, is filled with highs and lows. I hope by now I have learned my lesson and will continue to play, fighting the temptation to double my money quickly in an effort to rise in rank, who knows, I could be a Thug next time you hear from me!
