Buzz Writers: The Next Generation. Frick

As you may have seen, the Buzz is always accepting new writers, well, as long as their application meets up to the Editors standards! These past few weeks, the Buzz have welcomed FOUR new writers into our little family (TheSilentKiller, Sky, ShadowDragon, JoeyDaAxe), and so we decided to find out a little bit about their interest in the Buzz, and how it feels to be part of it. Sadly, though, we weren't able to get in touch with ShadowDragon.

To begin, the Buzz contacted our newest member, Sky, and asked him what made him reply. He said, "It was just a whim really. I've been writers for newspapers of other games, and even been editor of a few, but none of them matched the Buzz in terms of standards and quality. I think I was trying to challenge with a more professional approach to writing." We asked fellow writer, JoeyDaAxe, the same question, and he said, "I wanted to apply to The Buzz last round, but I never got up the nerve to. I didn't know what to write about. This round I decided to set aside my minor insecurities and try it out."

We then asked TheSilentKiller how it felt to be accepted. He said, "Well, I had submitted a few freelance articles, and I really liked writing, so I decided to give it a shot." Next, we asked Sky the same question. He said, "Elated, naturally. It was a very weird form of vindication as a contributing member of Bootleggers, rather than taking all the time, I can give something back. Of course, the minute I looked at the rules and guidelines I became petrified. My first article went well though, I'm not quite so worried about the next."

To follow, we asked JoeyDaAxe what writing articles is like for him. He said, "Being a writer for the Buzz is harder than I thought. Because it is a 'newspaper' for a specific game, all of the articles must be focused. Sometimes, it is hard to find something to write about. However, I do think it is important to keep the Buzz going, because it helps people keep track of what is going on within the community." After receiving the same question, TheSilentKiller said, "I have to keep a closer eye on what is happening in the game, and I have to talk to people and see whats going on. It's really fun to write articles, but there is also a lot of responsibility with the position."

Lastly, we asked all three writers if being a part of the Buzz met up to their expectations. Sky said, "Pretty much, I figured it would have a lot of rules and guidelines, and it does. The Buzz Forum is all about business, which is exactly what I expected, but we have a heck of a fun time in the Buzz Bar!" JoeyDaAxe said, "It has and more! I am sure I am not the only writer who thought, "This should be easy, it's only Bootleggers." But I am surprised at what is required to actually produce an article that people want to read." And, finishing off the interview, TheSilentKiller said, "It has. It's a newspaper, and you write your articles."

This is just a small look into the lives of our new writers, but they clearly seem to be enjoying themselves, however, they do look to be a bit busy with the rules for writing articles!
