How To: Be Hack Free! Nyxxie

You spend a lot of time on your account, ranking it, making hard earned money and banking it- it would be silly to have it all ruined by the evil work of a hacker. Be prepared, be secure and keep your eyes opened. Knowledge and diligence is the best tool against these vigilantes of the law! Below is a checklist on how to keep your account secure. Following it could save your account and hinder yourself from an unneeded headache.

Your Password
  • Never tell anyone your password. A staff member will never ask for it.
  • Never use a meaningful password that are easy to guess or come from a dictionary without using numbers to follow it. (IE: If your password is dog, change it to dog76253 or d2o5g6)
  • Make the password longer than six characters.
  • User numbers (1234567890), letters in both upper and lower case and symbols (!@#$%^&*?.)
  • Make the password random or make up your own word!
  • Do not share passwords on your computer or write them down where someone will make the connection.
  • Your password should differ from any other login. This means do not use your BL password to log into MSN or Facebook.
  • Change your password every 90 days, or shorter if you feel something is suspicious!

Your E-mail Address
  • Do not use the same e-mail address you sign up on MSN with.
  • If someone you do not know adds you to MSN, do not accept.
  • Do not use the same password for your e-mail address as you do for Bootleggers.
  • Do not open e-mails with attachments from people you do not know or trust.
  • Do not give your Bootleggers E-mail to anyone.
  • If you receive an e-mail from "Bootleggers" asking for your password, do not reply as it is a scam. Inform an online staff member and forward it to their bootmail inbox.
  • If someone logs in to MSN sends you a link and logs out, then it's probably a hacking link. Links should be pressed with caution regardless.

Extra Information
  • Images can have harmful code in them, make sure you turn on "Verify pictures in other players profiles" or turn off "See pictures in other players profiles" via the account page.
  • Music can also contain harmful code, if you are really unsure then turn off "Hear music in other player's profiles."
  • If you are on a public computer, do not save your password.
  • Get a good anti-virus and firewall not just for Bootleggers, but other places as well that may attempt to infect your computer with spyware or keyloggers.
  • If you have been hacked, it is probably something YOU have done wrong! So you have no one but yourself to blame. Staff will not recover your account or any money/points/rank within it if this happens.
  • When greeted with a link anywhere in game, we recommend that you press the GREEN button on the direct page labeled "Log off and View (recommended)"
