New Player Project Nyxxie

On July 22nd, a game forum topic was made regarding how slow it seems to rank on Bootleggers considering the supposed high price of ranking, purchasing equipment and bullets. I decided to put my money where my mouth is and attempt to make it in the game as a new player, knowing no one and having nothing. Can I do it? We'll see. It's either make it or break it and I will be journaling my progress day by day, week by week for the Buzz. Keep in mind, no one knows who I am and I intend to keep it that way. This account will be completely separate from my moderator account and in no way, shape or form, will the two intertwine.

The project started on the 22nd, a Thursday, and thus is not a full-week's information. In the future, a week will run from Sunday to Saturday. The project will end when I die, reach N. Don or have player's lose interest in the article and project itself.

July 22, 2010 - Day 1
With my first $500 given to me, I decided to start off by buying five crates of Moonshine and shipping it from Louisiana to Illinois (the cheapest traveling cost with the best income from a booze run at this time). My income from this was $128 dollars. I immediate placed this money in my bank and started to begin ranking via crimes and arm wrestling. I started with criming by "Scaring an Old Lady" and failing multiple times was expected. It's tedious, but so far, not impossible.

About thirty minutes into criming, I was approached by a player who was willing to allow me take part in their OC, free of charge. They gave me a car and any fees that were included with being a driver all with the exchange that I get no percentage. Keeping in mind that no one knows who I actually am, I was quite surprise to get a bootmail at all, never mind someone so kind to invite me to their OC, no strings attached! The Organized Crime involved a Boss, a scum (myself) and two Godfathers. From the money he gave me, I still had some money left over even after reading up and banked that as well, knowing I wouldn't be getting a percentage from this OC today. The OC was successful, and with it, I ranked to THUG. Perhaps I was just lucky, we'll see if that streak continues. For now, I'll just continue criming my night away!
The Day's Overview
Rank Achieved: Thug
Crimes successful/completed: 5/44
Auto Burglary Percentages: 0,0,0,0,0
Arm Wrestling Statistics: Flyweight Level 1: 65%
Organized Crimes Successful/Total: 1/1
Total Cash: $2,449

July 23, 2010 - Day 2
This morning I woke up and the first thing I did was a booze run. Being a Thug now, I figured I would be able to carry 10 crates, and that is what I did. I purchased some Gin and headed to Pennsylvania making a profit of $1,274. Woot! I was actually excited, not only did I make it past those pesky police officers at the state borders, but I made an amazing profit as well. Banking that money, I decided it was time to devote myself to criming.

No more than ten minutes into doing some crimes, I was approached by another player asking me if I was interested in joining their OC where they'd provide the money with the exchange that I'd get no return percentage. I must be lucky, not in any dream would I expect this to happen twice in a row. I, obviously, agreed. Money can be made eventually and no one should pass up an opportunity like this at such a low rank. The OC consisted of two Assassin's and one Gangster. While I didn't get a percentage, I did have some money left over (~$7k) as my own profit! SCHWEET. I didn't rank from it, but I'm sure I will eventually with some crimes.

For the second time today, another user asked me to OC. My first thought was "wow, these people are really friendly," which is a shy cry to what everyone else states in the Game Forums. Denying the OC, I continued on my crimin' journey. Points would of been awesome at this point to reset my timer, but they were just not available to me. Oh well! You win some and you lose some! I'll continue on my way doing crimes, arm wrestling and booze runs.
The Day's Overview
Rank Achieved: Gangster
Crimes successful/completed: 39/132
Auto Burglary Percentages: 0,0,0,0,0
Arm Wrestling Statistics: Flyweight Level 2: 4%
Organized Crimes Successful/Total: 2/2
Total Cash: $24,891

July 24, 2010 - Day 3
Today I started my morning by finding an OC all on my own. I got a few bootmails back and a few were greedy. Finally, one stuck that even provided me the cash for 3% OC vault return. The highest rank in the OC was a Respectable Boss, the lowest was a Thug. It was successful and I actually ended up pocking more or less $12,000 in profit due to the 3% return.

I decided to do a Booze run and figured that going from NY to NJ selling vodka was a good idea. Not paying attention to the price, and assuming it was what the Booze run chart showed, I bought 15 crates of Vodka in NY for $1,200. BIG MISTAKE, a rookie mistake, really and I can't blame myself, I haven't done this in years. Traveling to NJ, I realized they're buying it for $854. So at this point, I was in a pickle- do i sell because I know I won't be able to get it anywhere for profit, or do I keep it and hope I can find someplace where the price is more close to what I paid for and pray the booze doesn't go bad. Ah, well, I won't be making this mistake again. I gotta be paying more attention! Back to criming, I'll need the cash after taking a loss for my mistake.

Twelve hours after playing the game on and off, I OC'd once more with a Godfather, Hitman and Respectable Boss. The OC ranked me to Hitman. To end the night, I traveled from New York to New Jersey to complete a Booze run and profited in the end. After looking at my "Day's Overview," I think I need to start paying more attention to both Auto Burglaries and Arm Wrestling. I haven't been doing much of either and think it's time to incorporate that into my regime as well. So far, so good, though, and I look forward to tomorrow.
The Day's Overview
Rank Achieved: Hitman
Crimes successful/completed: 56/210
Auto Burglary Percentages: 1,1,3,1,1 - respectively.
Arm Wrestling Statistics: Flyweight Level 2: 17%
Organized Crimes Successful/Total: 4/4
Total Cash: $58,608

OVERALL THOUGHTS OF THE WEEK
I seem to be doing well so far. I do all I can with the time I play online, while not hindering my ability and duties of a Moderator. Overall, so far, everyone seems very helpful and willing to invite others into their circle. I was approached more times than I would have imagined (especially the way some people claim how unhelpful and rude everyone is) regarding an organized crime. I place my time into criming, but I need to also incorporate auto burglaries, arm wrestling and busting when possible. I need to figure out a momentum to get into that will help me do all of them while not wasting my time in jail.

Money is slow coming, but it is coming. I believe as I rank up some more, money will begin to come in easier than it has thus far. The bulk of my money has been made by doing lucrative booze runs. I still have yet to purchase any guns, protection or bullets. I intend to do that sometime next week.

I hope to hear your comments regarding this new project and how it is coming so far? Did you expect it to be this easy? Harder? Easier? I can't wait to hear your comments below!
