Behind the Roulette MikaMania

After having been dared by a casino owner to try and win his roulette, Administrator Sabin managed to acquire the roulette table of Colorado. He planned to give it away in a russian roulette game, and to pass the time he decided to put the maximum bet on unlimited in order to allow players to gamble without any restrictions. The response this triggered from the community was one that was not in the line of expectation.

The original idea was to give the casino away in a russian roulette game as soon as possible, however, during the time he held it, Sabin wanted to give the casino away in a somewhat more spectacular game. In order to come up with an idea, he decided to hold the casino a little longer, keeping the maximum bet unlimited as he did. The result, players in the Game Forum who began to create topics about for instance the unlimited casino being unfair towards other players and casino holders, about inflation going crazy because of the casino, there was a significant amount of complaints circling the forums.

After giving the casino away in a russion roulette on June 16, Sabin managed to find some free time to sit down and have a word with the Buzz. The subject of the converstation was 'his' unlimited Colorado roulette. “I acquired it when the owner of the table invited me to play, and in-fact dared me to try to win it. Since I didn't have anything pressing to do at the moment, I decided to play, and I won the table after just a few minutes,” he told us. Adding, “rue to my form, I dropped the Roulette table in a contest, in this case, Russian Roulette, on June 16th.”

The Buzz moved on, of course interested in why Sabin chose to stick with an unlimited maximum bet in the first place. He said, “I chose to make it Unlimited, so that everyone would have an option to play however they liked to play. I delayed dropping it, because I was trying to think of a different contest than Russian Roulette to give it away. Unfortunately, nothing came to mind, so I decided to do the RR anyway.” Give it away he did, on the earlier mentioned June 16. Apart from the reason, Sabin also expressed his feeling towards the people who claimed he brought a large amount of money into the game. “I don't have the exact figures for the change in game-money during the time I held the table, though if I knew the exact date/time I took possession, I could look it up,” he said. He continued by telling us, “However, I did note that it was nothing significantly different than normal inflation (such as from OCs and bank interest) over such a time period.”

Despite his claim, one cannot deny the sudden rise in the ingame money which occurred every now and then. “I did note that the money spiked a few times when someone won big,” Sabin said. “But that was quickly compensated for by them losing the money right back into the table (or others losing roughly equivalent amounts).” He further added, “The fact is, my holding of the Roulette did not inject any significant amount of money into the game, and did not directly cause any major changes in gameplay.”

The Buzz moved on, wondering about several things our writers had encountered during the time Sabin had been holding the roulette. Speculations about the reason, or reasons, the Administrator might have had to hold the casino with the maximum bet he had chosen. Mainly the players speculated about two main things, either Sabin was preparing for his resignation, or Bootleggers might be reset soon. The last option was “absolutely terrible speculation,” according to Sabin. Regarding quitting, he said, “Bootleggers is pretty much my main hobby. I don't believe that I will ever leave completely. I have invested so much of my time and skill into helping BL become what it is today that it would kill me to walk away.” Continueing, “That said, if I did someday make the decision to resign, I would simply do it, and most likely would probably give advance notice, train up my replacement, and part on good terms with my team. The fact is, this is not the first casino I've held unlimited for an extended period, and it's not likely to be the last.”

All conspiracy theories aside, it appears there was no real reason or deeper meaning behind Sabin his ownership of the Colorado roulette table. It was just a temporary action until the casino could be given away, which has happened now. The table is in the hands of players once again, free for anyone to take it if they have the means and the desire.
