Or, as it should be properly known, Mothering Sunday.
The origins of this day are somewhat different to what many people think. It was actually nothing to do with mums (or for you Yanks, 'moms'!). It was actually a day for people to go back to their 'mother church' - the church they grew up in, before moving away when they got married or whatever. So there you have it - but, seeing as going to church isn't so much a regular thing for many people, the meaning has changed. Say 'hi' to your mums from us at Bootleggers! Happy Mothers' Day!
