Determining a Legend |
DejaVu |
|
I have been around BL since early 2003. I've had the chance to meet a lot of interesting people and enjoy this game with some great players. Some of these players achieved a status on BL that was considered to be legendary. This brings me to one simple question. What makes a "legend"?
In the old days of BL, before all of the exploits and points, a handful of players were considered by most of the BL community to be legends. I know that if you were around then, you know who I'm talking about. These players had actually earned respect and in some cases were even feared for the things they had done on BL. They controlled the properties, ran crews and actually made kills from their accounts. There wasn't an issue with using dupes to do your dirty work, talk trash or even hiring a shooter. If you upset these people or their crews you could consider yourself dead.
4 years later it's a new BL, where anyone can buy points with real money, and as we all know, exploits were out of hand last round. This has in turn caused many people to become self-proclaimed "legends" on BL. But what makes you a legend? Is it making a kill? Making multiple kills? Who you know? Running a crew? Or is it just spamming the forums with pointless topics? A lot has changed since I started playing this game 4 years ago. I know from time to time a thread gets started in the game forums on this topic and we all name players but I'm curious to know what everyone thinks on this subject. I don't need a list of player's names. I just want your definitions of what it takes to be a "legend".
So what do you think makes a "legend"?
Feel free to BM me with your responses. I will write another article on what we feel are the most common things that define the type of player you are and make you a "legend" by BL standards.
