Requesting a B.O.S. |
Refugee |
|
This used to be a fairly common request made by the players that got tired or their names, or just simply wanted to quit. But have you ever read the Terms of Service (T.O.S.) about the matter? Recently as many of you know there was an update in the T.O.S. and as well as many other sections, this section was updated too.
The update that really jumped to my sight was:
Quote: You agree that self-initiated terminations represent a fundamental rejection of this EULA, and in doing so You forfeit the right to further access this Service or register a new account.
It means just what it says. If you request for a ban, you are not allowed to create a new account. Basically it means, if you ask the staff to terminate your account, they will terminate your access to the game itself. Meaning, you will be put on the Ban On Sight (BoS) list.
Out of simple curiosity, I asked a moderator about his thoughts on the matter. To my surprise and to his, the update was not known to him, yet when I showed him the quote from the TOS he confirmed what I suspected and what I mentioned earlier. Ask to be banned and you will be forbidden to play Bootleggers.
My curiosity carried me on to ask other Administrators and Moderators.
When the Buzz asked BSF2000 and Sabin about the portion of the T.O.S, in question, they have yet to respond. Understandable since they are must be busy with making sure the game runs correctly and that we can play it with no bug or exploits.
After bootmails were sent out, I waited and waited for a reply from the Moderators. When finally I received their replies they were interesting. Some said that they support the rule all the way since it does (in one way) give them more time to focus on more important things. If you know it or not, banning someone actually takes time.
Others explained to me, that the rule seems harsh to their eyes, since by requesting a ban you automatically get put along side those who exploited, cheater or in one was used the game flaws for their personal benefit.
I guess this would be the right time for all of you to take that slight advice from the Administrators we keep on getting: read the Terms on Service and play by them!
