We now move onto the second Moderator to be publicly questioned in our Elite Guard Interview. This past week I have been getting you all to send in your questions for an Interview with Andy. So let's see how it went:
Q. Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help you god? ~Anonymous~
A. Well I have already banned God this round, so he can go to hell!
I will be honest though......honestly!
Q. How many people on average do you ban a day? ~Dal~
A. That can vary wildly, it can depend on how many Help Desk tickets there are reporting possible dupes.
Q. How did you go about becoming a Moderator and how would you advise people to go about becoming one? ~Hawk~
A. I was recommended as a possible HDO by LukkyB, quite sometime before I was added onto the Help Desk, due to my particularly helpful profile.
Eventually after being a Help Desk Operator long enough and I guess a combination of being helpful and having enough in-game "knowledge" made me suitable to be a Moderator.
I wouldn't advise anyone as to how to go about becoming a member of staff, I'd just say to be yourself as well as helpful and polite to other users as much as possible, then maybe we will spot your potential.
Q. Is the Elite Guard forum as perverted as Penthouse were? ~Anonymous~
A. I don't think that's possible! lol, unless 5litre is very drunk...
Q. Andy, do you have any Hate or opinions about crew's if they would join this reset again, that where on the stats last reset? ~ThaWicked~
A. Nope, I have no preferences, one way or the other, to any particular crew.
Q. Have the Elite Guard got some kind of BootMail recognition? Where you can tell if a certain someone has sent you a message? If not, do you like the idea? ~LordJuiner~
A. Yes, it's combination of reading and memory. That could possibly be a useful feature though.
Q. Do you prefer being a Moderator over a normal player and is it worth the job with all the hassle you can get from it? ~JMody~
A. Any hassle I may get from being a Moderator is about the same, for different reasons, as when I was a player.
I would say I do prefer being a Moderator though, as I like helping as much as possible and also I was a very lazy player with not a lot of real ambition apart from killing occasionally and talking on the forums.
Q. As a HDO and a Moderator, what do you feel about the criticism you all get? ~spammerana~
A. It's just something that comes with the title, I just think that if I wasn't getting criticized then I am not doing my job properly.
Q. Do you listen to the BootCast and if so, what do you think about it and what is your favourite feature of the BootCast? ~Coolster7~
A. Yes I do, my favourite feature is either listening to the slightly deranged people phoning in or the end!
Q. What are the good and bad things about being a Moderator? ~Trax~
A. The only real bad thing about being a Moderator is a lack of understanding or impatience from the players but apart from that it is all good.
Q. People always give accusations of Moderators being corrupt and some of these accusations pointed at you. What do you feel about these kinds of accusations and how do you cope with them? ~Air~
A. I just ignore them, I know I am not corrupt or biased in any way. Talk of corruption in Bootleggers is just something that will always happen.
Q. Have you ever dupe checked "YOU"? ~Anynonymous~
A. I have dupe checked the user "You", just then when I got this question lol, I have also dupechecked myself, I am clean!
Q. Do you floss? ~Anynonymous~
A. I refuse to answer such a personal question from someone who wishes to remain anonymous. **closes curtains and locks doors**
------
A big thanks to Andy for taking the time out to answer these and another big thank you to everyone who sent in questions... especially those that made the list. Be sure to check the Game Forum to see who we're interviewing next week on the: Elite Guard Interview.
