The Final Ruling? |

Two years ago I can see the need for discussing as the rules were never really clearly defined and staff seemed as if it was just made up as you went along. The discussion then was to figure out exactly what the ruling was on a particular situation. Now, the rules are clearly defined within the game forum for all to be able to read at their own leisure. Yes, I did say CLEARLY defined, just because you do not understand it does not mean it is not clearly defined. There is even a ruling about rules discussion, expressly forbidding it within the game.
At this point you may be asking yourself, So, Spacie. What exactly prompted you to write this article? Well, my dear friend that is an excellent question! Recently there was a thread posted in the game forum asking the question Should moderators be permitted to give money away to friends? Well, why not? They make their money legitimately just like everyone else does, the only advantage being that they are unable to be killed. Despite popular belief moderators are moderators because they are trusted to do the right thing and if you know Sabin as well as I think I do, he holds himself and the rest of the staff to a higher standard and expects those he has entrusted the rights and privileges of moderator and help desk operator to do the same.
I supposed I can see the other side of the story as well, it can be boring sometimes sitting in the game waiting for your next OC, crime, auto burglary, etc. Also, it seems that sometimes the rules are enforced more severely than others. Let me step in, as an Ex-HDO, at this point and help you realize that sometimes you do not realize or see the whole story but one part of it. There are some players that are just those odd annoyances in the game that are only there to troll the forum and cause havoc. Those players deserve the swift and severe actions they do get. Typically though, most ruling decision are based, or should be based, on reason, record and circumstance. Basically, saying that depending on who the offender is, what they did and what their history of failing to abide by the rules has been will determine the severity of their punishment.
ell, I could really go on and on in that last paragraph so I will just bring it to a close now. Todays lesson kids, play the game already, enjoy yourself, DO NOT cheat and you will not have to worry about getting in trouble with the staff.
