When the Going Gets Tough, Dag gets Going... bubbabubba

In the nearly bi-monthly saga of Help Desk Operator Driftwood, (aka Dagorlad) once again an, "I'm stepping down as HDO and quitting for good" post was made Monday morning December 2nd in the game forum. Besides drawing even more attention (and more than likely a lie) it clearly begs the question, how many times can the little boy cry wolf?

We won't go into details of what led to the situation, it could clearly be a buzz article itself, as many members were unfairly muted (in my opinion) in some very shady and poor HDO standards.

Let's stick with the little boy crying wolf. Since I've been a member of Bootleggers I've seen this user "quit" multiple times. The previous time being HDO and clearly stating it was no longer for him and had more important things to do than log on Bootleggers. Little to anyone's surprise that "I quit" lasted only a short while. It was followed by an "I'm only back to help the game out, not to play it, rank or gain; just help." So what was so important it only lasted a month time after time after time *yawns*? How exactly does one not play Bootleggers by logging on every day?

Which brings us once again to today's "I quit."

I ask Bootleggers, is this a person we want helping us? A person who clearly stated they had better things to do than log on Bootleggers. A person who's made a habit of "quitting" yet returning continually with lame excuse after lame excuse. A person who warned users not to log on simply to bash in forums yet had no trouble responding via text and mute himself. A person who's made the comings and goings of a player a complete joke, let alone the HDO job.

An HDO is supposed to be the 'cream of the crop' of Bootleggers players. They're supposed to show superior knowledge, skill and trust while answering the average players question along with maintaining control in the game. How can we trust a person who doesn't trust himself enough to stay in control of himself? A person who's making the HDO position a joke-- a choice of coming and going at one's leisure.

I want a Help Desk Operator who I can rely on. I want one that's proven their value and doesn't run away every other month. I personally wouldn't even have the nerve to ask for a job back after I'd "quit" on it. Imagine walking into your bosses office at work and saying "I quit bossman, I've got better places to be and better things to do than be here." Then walk back into that same office 30 days later with your tail tucked between your legs...

Eventually, no one comes for the little boy who cried wolf.
