Logging in and seeing you've got new messages isn't very uncommon for most players. However, logging in and finding messages saying, Hi or containing some other form of greeting are.
Like almost every day, I logged in to do my normal morning OC as I usually do. Upon logging in again, six hours later, I found several messages asking me things as if I were online. I checked with my friends who told me I had been shown online at times when I wasn't there, and I wasn't the only one. Virtually every player that had logged in and pressed the logout button when leaving were being shown as online at the 'Users Online' page.
At first, some people assumed either BSF2000 or Sabin had updated the script so only players that actually pressed 'logout' were shown offline. However, I myself always press the 'logout' button and was still being shown online along with many others.
With all players that had logged in being shown online, Bootleggers became slower and started to lag. The bug also caused problems if you, for example, wanted to find an OC or if you needed information from someone. With everyone showing online, it was impossible to determine who was and who wasn't actually there. The only players you could be sure of they were playing at the moment were those that turned Idle, as the players that weren't there just kept showing online.
The reason for the bug remains unknown. Yet, we are out of trouble once again as the problem is no longer there. Meaning either BSF2000 or Sabin fixed it. With no more people showing online then the amount there actually is, Bootleggers is going smooth once again. Problem solved. Case closed.
