Boot Marriages - The Way Forward or a Dead Era? |

If you have ever come across a profile that has announced Proud Wife/Husband of X, then you have found a Boot Marriage.
Once upon a time, Boot Marriages were very popular in Bootleggers. You could even say they were the norm. These days, however, the trend of Boot Marriages runs thin. And you can see why. With players so desperate to make a quick buck, it would seem that a lot of males have no scruples over posing as female and scamming their sugar daddies for money! The sad thing about these scammers is that although they will get bashed to no end on the forum, people still fall for it. There are boys out there who, in support of Boot Marriages, will be conned into sending their prospective wives cash. This doesnt make it easy for genuine girls who do play Bootleggers. With the quote No such thing as girls on the internet being bandied around, it must be difficult for a female to survive on Bootleggers - especially one in support of Boot Marriages.
The staff, however, seems to encourage Boot Marriages. Perhaps the most famous modern Boot Marriage is between Administrator Sabin and Help Desk Operator JeMaaktMeGek (Sylv). There have been many staff Boot Marriages in the past, does this mean that the staff encourages them? Well, I caught up with Sabin, who told me that The staff neither encourages, nor condones Boot Marriages. Because it isnt an official feature of the game, the staff isnt really interested in what people do on the OTF (as long as it doesnt violate the TOS).
Of course, the majority of players are completely against Boot Marriages now. They have been dubbed pathetic by many. This, perhaps, comes down to a more personal level. There are also people who are completely against internet relationships in general. I think whether a lot of players agree with Boot Marriages or not boils down to personal preference and too many real life factors to name.
So, it would appear that with the staff taking a neutral stance on Boot Marriages and players on the whole condemning them, the time of Boot Marriages has indeed come to an end.
