A Day In The Life Of... Dementis

In this weeks edition of my weekly segments, I would like to introduce to you the people who work hard day in and day out to keep the Game clean. The people who will aid you in your time of need and will prosecute you when you break the rules. If you have not guessed it by now, this week the Bootleggers Buzz would like to present to you A day in the life of a Bootleggers Moderator.

As usual, I have sent out 4 questions to the Moderators, hoping for a good, and of course professional reply. Which of course I received. My first question was a rather standard one for this weekly segment but it is always a must. I have asked them to describe their position as Moderators. They have stated that it is a privileged position that involves policing all aspects of Bootleggers as best as they can, liaising with the other staff members so that they can all do their best to keep Bootleggers running as smoothly as possible, giving each and every player the same chances of playing the game, bug and exploit free. All of them also stated that it is a position which is most enjoyable at times, but on the other hand can be quite frustrating at other times, as their mailbox seems to lighting up from the second they sign on, to the second they sign off.

When it came to the daily routine question, all the replies I received were rather similar, yet very unique in one way or another. Their daily routine mainly consists (but is not limited to) logging on and looking at the situation. Meaning, they look at the open appeals which might require their attention, make sure there are no violations in the Forums and of course check the Crew Forum for important updates and the Help Desk for possible questions or reports that players have sent in. Now I must say, they must have a lot on their plate on a daily basis, so no wonder I even received a reply saying that one of the Moderators even eats their breakfast whilst logged on.

Now being in a high profiled position as a Moderator, I was sure they have their share of weird and funny stories that have happened to them, in the time they have spent as Moderator so far. The most amusing answer I received was from a Moderator who stated that the weirdest thing that has happened to him was the first day he was appointed as Moderator, when everything seemed so weird and busy all the time. This is something I can actually believe with an easy heart as just try to imagine how many bootmails they receive on their first day, whilst trying to cope with all the new responsibilities given to them. The second most original reply was from another Moderator who stated that it is not just one event, but events which occur on a daily basis, as players tend to give the funniest and weirdest excuses in order to avoid their account being terminated.

The last question for this weeks segment was quite random, even for me. As I asked the Moderators to say something really random which would reflect their position as Moderator. This is a part of the article which I intend to keep short, as one of the Moderators replied with a quote, which I find is quite a good way of describing the entire presentation.

''When one door is closed, don't you know, another is open'' - Bob Marley

As when one player is banned for cheating, another will just get another idea on how to do it without getting caught. And as one player is helped with their problem, another problem comes to life.

I would personally like to thank all the Moderators for their cooperation for this article and congratulate them on the great work that they are doing. So as the Bootleggers rank message saysÂ… Keep on going!
