It's not everyday you wake up and realize that your life sucks. But today I did... I just turned 17 years old nine days ago and I've always had big city dreams, yet I've grown accustomed to my family never having any money. I promised myself that I wouldn't die here in Louisiana, I was gonna make it to New York City for my share of the big city living.

Growing up I never could shake these dreams that flashed aloud in my head... You know, dreams of a better life, a better way. Don't get me wrong, I had a life... It was by no means a good life, but Mom and Pop both worked hard in the tobacco fields, and had always told us (My sisters and I)if we ever wanted to get out of this shack... if we ever wanted for something, we had to "Take it" cause no man was gone give us nothing for free. I'm Laughing to my very self at this moment, while puffing on an old cigarette that my uncle Johnny Boy left here on our porch from last night. I can't think of much else other than the fact that I want more and I want it now... Just as I'm flicking out the last of the smoke. My best Friend TonyT comes running up and asks me if I wanna make some money. I almost jump outta my clothes as I answer while running after him. "Hells Yeah!!" I say, He tells me to follow him to the old tractor fields, and to act normal. I asked him over and over where are we going? His only reply was to see "Clyde" I didn't know at the time, but Clyde was my aunt Bonnie's boyfriend. Once we arrived it was already nightfall and there are plenty of unfamiliar faces. TonyT says out loud "here he is Clyde, I brought em" I can see Clyde step forward and extend his hand to me. I shake it and he asked me "You ready to be a man?" I said yes sur!!! He smiled and told me I was no longer one of these scum running around with no idea what I was doing. Today I Was nicknamed "the pewee"...And from that night on my life changed forever....
