If you are one of the players that reads the 'News' page every now and then you will have noticed the messages that have been placed regarding the updates of the Frequently Asked Questions (or FAQ in short). Recently, all the tooltips have been modified and are now up to date, meaning new players can quickly find a (brief) overview of a feature by hovering their mouse over a certain menu link.
However, there is more to just the FAQ then the tooltips. When visiting the page, you will also notice a list of feature FAQ, located in the This Guide section. Whereas the HDOs and staff is busy on revising these as well, we wanted to give the players a chance to provide us with their input as well. In return, submissions that are actually used will be rewarded with 100 points. As you may have already guessed, that is what this contest is all about.
Although the HDOs and Elite Guard staff will of course come up with their own list of questions, it is of course always possible for us to miss a question that would be a very useful addition. For this purpose, we would like as many people as possible to submit a question which fits in one of the feature FAQs as a 'Contest entry'. The preferred format is Q&A, both the question and the answer. If you do not know the answer to your question you may submit the question alone. However, complete submissions (Q&A) are more likely to be selected.
Right. The basics are covered. Now for the rules of both the contest and the questions:
Question rules:
- All submitted questions should fit in one of the categories. When submitting, the category of the question is to be included.
- The answer to the question should not be too long. It should focus on facts and is to be, to use a common phrase, short and sweet.
- Questions may not provide answers on what earns a user experience and what does not.
- New rules may be added or existing rules may be altered at any given time.
An example entry wrote: Q: What is the difference between Major and Minor Crimes?
A: A Major Crime will target actual players or crews, whereas a Minor Crime will steal from the game.
Contest rules:
In these rules, a submission is regarded as being one Question or one Q&A that has been submitted as a 'Contest entry'.
- To participate, submit a 'Contest entry' on the bottom of the Buzz page.
- Entries may be sent in from Sunday July 4 till Saturday July 10, 5AM (Bootleggers time).
- Only questions that have not yet been suggested by HDOs or Elite Guard Staff will be considered.
- A submission will be considered as having won when it has been selected to be included in the FAQ.
- If, for whatever reason, none of the submissions are selected, there will be a total of five winners who will be decided on by the HDOs, and possibly some Elite Guard staff. The criterion in this case is originality.
- A winner will receive 100 points.
- Multiple submissions per user are allowed.
- In the case of identical submissions, the user that sent it in first will be rewarded if the submission is selected.
- Winners will be announced in the next issue (issue #36).
- New rules may be added or existing rules may be altered at any given time.
Any questions regarding the contest or the rules can be send to Mika. Again, in order to be considered, the entry has to be submitted as a 'Contest entry'. Due to the HDOs being the judges, all non-HDO Buzz Team members are allowed to participate in this contest if they so wish, as no advantage can be gained from being able to see the entries that have already been submitted.
Good luck to those who are going to participate, we hope to see a lot of questions and, of course, answers!
