Did you know? Pt.2 Altro

Did you know this article contains ten things you may not have known about Bootleggers?

Did you know SalvatoreLucania, the guy in the fourth mission, was sentenced to 30-50 years in jail for crimes in real life? Before his trial, he managed to flee from New York to Arkansas, however, he was soon caught and brought back to face the courts. He continued to run his crime family from jail, yet he never escaped, or was broken out, like Bootleggers suggests. He was, however, released for his help in World War II, where he used his connections in Europe to provide valuable Intel against the axis of power.

Did you know that the Dragunov gun, the first gun you can buy with points, didn’t exist in 1920-1930. Despite Bootleggers being set in prohibition America, you can still buy a Dragunov sniper rifle, that wasn’t first made till the 1960s. Moreover the gun was made by the Soviet Union, and therefore unlikely to have made it on to US soil.

Did you know the Elite Guard was, on multiple occasions, suspended for not paying its crew taxes? It is now believed that they are exempt from this rule, given that the crew does not appear in the 15 count. General opinion is after the suspensions the crew was designed to be void of taxes and other crew features such as stealing a car from a crew and major crimes.

Did you know that Bootleggers used to have a loan system? Users could loan money to other players through a built in feature, after a specified amount of time had passed the money would be returned automatically. If they didn’t have enough money on hand they would forfeit health instead. The feature was removed after an exploit was found to be adding billions to the game, how long this process had been going on no one was sure. The staff only became aware when an exploiter decided to expose the flaw by hitlisting the Elite Guard members, for amounts as high as tens of billions of dollars. Several months after many players expected the feature to make a return, the same way Arm Wrestling and Establishments later did, but has of yet, not materialised.

Did you know the Cadillac V-16 was first made in 1930? Throughout its ten year life span only 4,076 were made and recently one of these cars sold for $500,000. Given the point price at the moment the in game cost for one of these cars would be $3,400,000. Unfortunately for the car and its sales, the events of the world around it gave the car a rocky history. Coming out just after the Wall Street crash in 1929, it survived through the Great Depression to be finally shelved when events in Europe damaged sales.

Did you know that the retail value of all the iPods given away last month was of equal value to 17,000 points or $578,000,000 in game money? We calculated these prices from the apple.com US stores website, around $1,700 real life money for the 12 iPods, with the point value of $34,000 per point. You could have also converted all those points in to 850,000 bullets.

Did you know that over 50% of the players are European? This data was taken from the top playing countries on the login screen. At the time of writing, 22% are from the United Kingdom, 21% from the Netherlands, 6% from Norway, 3% from Belgium. That’s 52%, not counting those that do not make the top ten. The top ten countries count for around 91% of the players.

Did you know the first crew of the reset was The Vanguard? They were helped on to the statistics by TFKyle. You can still read about it in issue one of the Buzz. The second crew was Eternal Labyrinth who still make regular appearances on the statistics.

Did you know that there are 125 plots of land in Pennsylvania Establishments? We had a junior Buzz writer count them just for this article, then a second time and a third, to make sure they were right. We hope that shows the dedication that goes in to each Buzz article.

Did you know that if you have a Reinforced Duesenberg for protection or a Thompson as your gun it is cheaper to ditch your crew using points than clicking leave crew? It will cost over three million dollars to replace your Reinforced Duesenberg or $2.5 million for your Thompson. If you use 50 points it will currently cost $1.7 million. If you click leave crew you will lose $200,000, your protection, your gun and up to 60% of your health.
